I see it every year and can't believe it. People sitting right on the nose of a moving powerboat, and often at planing speeds. What happens if they should fall off! Thankfully (and surprisingly) I have never heard of this type of accident occuring. Every time I see it I cringe at the sight. Please everyone make your passengers sit their bottom on a seat in the boat while underway.

Never heard or seen anyone fall of while the boat was in motion but when one comes to a sudden stop (IE stump or sandbar) I have seen a few folks fly forward. Some boats are built for bowriding (IE bowriders) but if yours is not then for your own safety stay where you are supposed to be when moving.

Re: Can't believe it!

It happened over here a couple of years ago, a 14 year old boy was bow riding with legs over the bow on a speedboat and in he went.
The prop tried to sever each vertabrae from the other. The surgery was reported to have been extensive. I cannot imagine the intense anguish his parents felt (it was their boat).
Just don't do it.
Over here it's illegal to bow ride anyhow.
It's also illegal for anyone under the age of 15 to operate any craft capable of more than 15 knots.
Ross
