Cant access website outside US??

Hi - ive noticed the site simply does not work outside the US!! Im in South Africa and desperately looking for assistance with my merc/mariner outboard - I have to run thru a VPN connection to use the site! this is quite ridiculous - why would you block other countries?

Please remove this (silly) restriction so we can all share info?!

Pretty sure it is done for security reasons. Maybe the mods can add more info.

We know it's harder for honest people in some parts of the world to use the site, but scammers made the blocks necessary.

Sorry you have to jump through hoops, but we will do our best to help you with your outboard and RIB problems. Hope using a VPN connection isn't too difficult.

Probably some have, but they work on speed and quick hits. Also they don't want to spend any to steal any. :facepalm:

Well it's odd cos phone works fine, laptop nada.. Even different browsers.. Who wd scam a boat site of all places..

Plus I cannot login, even on vpn, says my email doesn't exist and asks if I want to register!!

Hence inactivity.. Had all kinds of problems.. So on phone now which SUX

iboats is not being scammed, but members can be. That's why we don't like to see email addresses used as usernames and posting personal info. We warn against that, but people don't seem to care. We can only do so much.

You should be able to log on using VPN. Others have said they are accessing the forum with VPN.

I block most countries of African origin as well as Asia on my servers, just to many hacking and scammers in many of those countries.

well fyi south africa is the only 1st world country in the entire continent - but i guess most ppl dont even know that haha - ah well.. found a vpn that finally worked.. yes i have actually been asked if we have car shops here - lol.. um yes - tons of audi/bmw/porsche/merc/vw and then some...

You may be able to visit the website using a proxy like Hide Me.

Maybe spammers would be appropriate too...... Videos etc...... When I modded a different forum I think we had most of the Philippines blocked......

Some of the worst hacking I have ever had to fight on my wife's servers was from S. Africa!
