half inch of ice on EVERYTHING, more freezing rain coming down, 8 to 10 inches of snow to follow when temps drop around four this afternoon.

No sir, I'm not budging, turn up the heat and let's see what's on TV. Hey, turn to the news so I can laugh at the folks stuck at the airport. :D

Just passed us but I'm driving to mid IN and there doesn't seem to be much issue right now. Guess I'll decide more come Tuesday

We're getting it, too. We seem to be right on the line between rain, freezing rain, or snow (or maybe not much of anything....). We have about a quarter inch of ice, enough to make everything super hazardous, but the forecast for snow vs. ice vs. rain seems to change about every ten minutes...

Went out to start the Jeep and clean it off. Stepped on the concrete parking pad with maybe a 10 degree slope and slid all the way to the end as I stood motionless. Worked my way to the grass and slowly came back in the house. Nope, we're not going anywhere....

You obviously haven't been paying attention to the radio....
I've heard the same guy tell us half a dozen times in the past 24 hours : "the weather outside is frightful...but the fire is so delightful....and since there's no place to go....." :D

We're getting hammered by a storm again...second time in 36 hours.
Gas fireplace, finally sprung for HD TV....lots of hockey and football games.
We've dropped anchor for the duration as well.

Ayuh,.... I just went out to stoke the boiler,.... could barely stand while wobblin' over to it,...

The firewood pile is covered with a 1/2" of ice,... darn near put out the blaze,...
Tried to push, 'n re-arrange some sticks with a shovel,...
Shovel handle is also covered with the 1/2" of ice,...
Push on the wood, I slide backwards,...

kicked the draft fan on, to steam it out,...
When I go back out in awhile, I'll be wearin' the ice fishin' cleats I'm 'bout to dig outa my pack-basket,.... ;)

Actually, the best thing I've found is sharp masonry sand....crushed silica.
A few cups of that strewn around and it's like walking on sandpaper.

Dear Bubba,

You are so kind and generous! I woke up this morning to find the Ice Storm you had sent. You really did not have to send that but your generosity is really overwhelming!!

It only took me a solid 25 minutes to clear the windows on my SUV and the ride to work was slow but exciting! :D

Merry Christmas,
Bob & Jenn

Re: Cancel the plans to travel...

We surpassed an all time high temp for Dec 22 at 7am. It is 63 now and expected to approach 70 today in NY at Christmas. Tomorrow temps dropping 40 degrees. So warm insects are flying around at sunrise. Going clamming this afternoon and gonna enjoy some during the Football games! Going to BBQ too while I can.

Re: Cancel the plans to travel...

Use to fly up to MN every other week for a few years and I learned one thing. MN has two seasons winter and road construction, but they do know how to clear a road
