can you soup up a 6hp rude?

OB's arent my forte, so forgive me..
Just picked up a 72 rude 6hp Fisherman.
Can you swap the carb with a 7.5? or another larger rude?
No matter what this little guy will blow away my 7.5 Gamefisher I was using

The 7.5 wasn't made until the 80's, before then the next size up was the 9.9. I don't think any of those model's carbs will swap with what you have. Even then you would probably need other changes, like heads and ports. That 6hp is a workhorse for it's size, as you found out. Flip the 6 over and it becomes a 9.

i tell all my customers who ask this same type of question. Yep i can make that motor faster by trading it in on the bigger motor hanging on my rack lol

Yes, you can.

Go to Sam's, buy 30 gallons of chicken noodle and dump it in a trash can. Insert 6hp Rude and have at it. You should have chicken and noodles all over the motor, in short order.

I love my 87 8hp rude or should i say 7.5 hp she is a work horse and pushes my 19 deep vee tinny up to 7 to 8 mph .... All I really need is 5 mph for trolling!

Yeah = Put a blower on it, Take a hair dryer and duct tape it to the carborator. Disable the heating coil. Then run the fuel line to the intake and secure it with a clothspin. Fill yuor fuel tank with 25% nitro glyceryn.Then put a 120 v gasoline generator in your boat to power it. Then you can also hook up a window A/C unit, a TV and a blender to make Margaritas

Hop in the boat, open up your 6hp to WOT, take a piece of duct tape and tape the throttle open, jump out of the boat, and I bet you'll be surprised at how fast she'll go!

been there done that (duck tape not necessary). she goes round & round, until one of you unhooks the gas tank
