Can you see a spun prop hub?

I just purchased a used prop on ebay that looks like it's in great condition. But I won't be able to try it for a few months. I looked it over really well. One thing I noticed was on the back side around where the shaft inserts some really small curly, thin rubber strips. I'm probably just being overly skeptical, but if it was spun could you tell? Would it smell burnt? Is there a way to check without running it? The seller has all positive feedback, so I'm hoping to here from him first hand it's okay. Any thought? Thanks

You don't happen to be the person that bought the SS Raker prop that sold a few weeks ago?

Install the prop.. Disconnect the battery and remove the plug wires. Put it in gear and try to turn the prop by hand. If you see the prop move without the hub than it is no good(you should not be able to turn it)! If it is good it could still possibly slip under a heavy load but the chance of that would be low.
