Can you, convert electric shift to manual shift?

I have a 100hp Evinrude, from the 70s and it has electric shift, and my boat has manual controls. So far I can't seem to find any where to buy a set of controls.

Does any one know how you can convert the electric to a manual shift? Or is it possible to make something from stratch, however ugly it may be?

Thanks for the help.

I would think that would be very difficult. There's no shift rod, and nothing in the powerhead to attach one too. And of course you'd need a different lower unit. You'll probably have to keep looking for controls. You can use http://crazedlist.org to search multiple Craigslist sites at once.
