Trying to winterize my 1999 Powerquest that is new to me this year.

7.4L 454 MagMPI Gen vi
Bravo1
raw water cooled (entire system)

Engine # 0l035657

For the life of me I can find the block drain plugs. On Port side I unscrewed what I though for sure was the drain located right under the exhaust manifold blue drain plug, only to be surprised by oil coming out of it.

Starboard side I pulled what I now believe to be a knock sensor (that isn't connected to anything and appears to screw into a dead hole?)

I diagram or pic would be very very much appreciated.

about in the middle of the block, just above the oil pan flange are 2 drain plugs. Where each hose connects to the bottom of the exaust manifold is a drain plug, or remove the hose to drain

So, come to find out I had the correct spot after all, what I thought was oil turned out to be plugged up gunk. Pushed a coat hanger thru and out drained the water I was looking for.

Thanks so much, this is the best site.....

Ayuh,..... Ya Gotta poke, 'n prod the drain holes in the block, 'n manifolds,....

My motor has a 3" ssteel deckscrew that lives on the intake manifold, just for that reason,....
My toolbox has another one for other boats I winterize,....

It's also why I Hate any sorta "Drain System", other than a plain ole brass pipe plug,....

The various Drain Systems Merc has used over the years amount to frozen busted blocks, just waitin' for the stars to align,....

Air don't freeze, but ya gotta get the water Out,....
