can someone ID this box under the dash for me?

This little thing is under the dash to the left. I have an 81 Glastron SX-190, if that helps.

Interesting. Fused, and fins to dissapate heat. Maybe a small amp for either radio or stereo? Have you traced those wires? Is there anything on the other side of the dash in that location or is it contained completely on that side in the pic?

Sorry for the crappy picture. That is a molex plug not a fuse. The wires go back to the dash and are about 14 gauge or so. I am really good with electrics, but this one is killing me.

No not yet, hopefully soon, still trying to deside if I am going to do it myself or have a local do it, had a hard time finding out what it was EXACTLY, An Alpha one or Alpha one gen1. 1991 logic says Alpha one gen1 but S/N is giving me mixed, I believe its a Alpha one even though Alpha ones are 1973-1990 and gen1 1991-present, so figuring out what I had before they sent me one has been a real chore!

Un plug it and see what does not work. Kinda looks like a power inverter.

I agree, Couldn't hurt.
Trace the wires and see where they go to, use wire tester to see if they're hot. OH I will also send pics of the damage just to show every one the damage, guess my cherry needed to be popped sooner or later, prferably later but this is all apart of boating, I guess.

I will do some testing later today. We are heading out to the lake today and I do not want to get into a big project.
