Can somebody tell me what year my mercury is

Hi guys i have here a 6cyl inline mercury outboard i,m not sure what year it is i beleive its an 85hp and the serial no off it is 4699853 can any one help with a year model

i can,t seem to find an 85hp 6cyl parts catalouge is there one avaible on line

Well, that's kinda tricky if you just wanna sit down and look at a book.
If you're after a part, there are many online stores with online catalogs...iboats, mercruiserparts, oldmercs, and so on.
Go to the iBoats Marine Store as long as you're here.
Their's is fairly typical of a good online supplier.

thanks again... 1 more question to disconnect the shift connector on this 77 85hp mercury it looks like i need to push out the roll pin in the arm on the connector rod does this sound wright?
