I have a 25hp 1979 johnson seahorse model 25r79r. I've read that some motors have alternators that charge your battery while they run. Does mine have this feature? I have a Seloc manual but it's not clear to me weather I have this function. Anyone?

From the model number, I wouldn't think you have chargeing unless someone put it on there after the motor was bought. 25R79R indicates a rope start. Is this what yours is?

Another way to tell is to look for the rectifier. It will look like a small tin can mounted on a triangular base. It would be mounted on the port side of the engine.
