I just got a 2000 model Mercury 150 xr6 .... And im trying to use my old controls from my 84 mercury 150 .... And i dont think it has an alarm.... I have an alarm to wire in... And from the schematic i read... I figured i could wire it up on the motor... Just to see if that would work... And when i turn the key on .. I get a solid beep... I have the purple wire buy the main plug... wired into the purple on the alarm.... And the Tan temp wire wired into the tan wire on the alarm... I was just doing to see if it would work like that... And if it did i was going to make the wires longer and run it to the console...

Should i have gotten a solid beep doing it like that...Or can i even wire it up there to check it.

The tan wire goes to the temp gauge sensor. It will probably beep all the time depending on your alarm sensitivity. The wire you're looking for is tan with a blue tracer. It comes from a terminal strip on the starboard side, high. To it are a wire from the lube alert (tan/blue), a wire from the overheat switch (black) and the tan/blue wire into the harness that goes up front to the alarm.

hope it helps

Does anyone make a block of kit or anything .. So i can premix... I dont really trust that auto mixer... My blackmax was blocked off ... Will the block off plate work off it...
