Can I use a Crusader Exhaust manifold and riser on a Mercruiser?

Hi- Engine is a Mercruiser 325 (big block chevy 427 ci from about 1972). I'm about to pull the manifolds and risers. They look OK externally, but who knows what I'll find.

I was given a good set of Crusader manifolds for a BBC. Assuming I can do the approriate "plumbing" to connect to raw water cooling source, and connect the unit to the "muffler", can I use the Crusader parts on the Merc?

Maybe a stupid question??

Thanks,

Don

Ayuh,.........

As long as you can replumb both the Water flow,+ the Exhaust flow,.........

I don't see why Not,............

Ya, from what I have seen of BB manifolds they seem pretty universal. Like Bondo says, just plump it the same.

Just make sure that you don't lose any riser/elbow height.

OK, thanks. But I'm confused by the "not loosing any riser height". I don't think I will, but is there a resource or link that will help me understand how the heck risers and manifolds function on boats. It all seems counter-intuitive to me...

BTW, I get the need for cooling the exhaust flow so it doesn't set the boat on fire, but why the "rise", and elbows, etc.? By engine sits a foot above the water line, so "anti-siphon" isn't the issue.

By engine sits a foot above the water line,

That's Extremely Unusual............

The "Rule" is,.....
The bottom of the Riser, has to be atleast 13" Above the waterline of the hull.........
You need protection from Backwash rather than any Siphon Effects......
