i heard that you cant tow a pwc behind a boat - somehow water gets into the engine? is this true? can i put a shut off valve in line w/ the water intake hose?...

the factory warns that towing can force water in to the exhaust and it can get back in to the engine people do put a shutoff valve in the water hose between the pump and engine, this worries me because if you forget you shut off the water you will fry the engine, I would suggest if you do use a shutoff valve you place the lanyard on the hose by the switch so you have no choice but to open the seat and get the lanyard this reminds you that the switch is off. I have towed skies for some distance without pinching off the hose but it isn't really a good idea to do it.All it takes is one time for water to enter the crank case and rust the berrings.
