Its a 95 4.3 with weber 4 barrel. I have the service manual and am pretty good at these things. I've never done this before; am I crazy for considering this? What special tools will I need? The local marine dealer is busy, and I am too impatient to wait. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advace.

Only you can answer the question, but from the sound of it, then the answer is "yes."

As long as you take your time and have a clean, uncluttered area to work you should be fine. Buy a gallon of carb cleaner that you can soak the body and various parts in. Have a good source of compressed air. Take notes and drawings of anything you are unsure of.

Other than that - pretty simple. ;)

Sounds like you have done it. Any special tools required? The manual says I'll need a carb gauge. What is a carb gauge? Thanks for replying.

Your gauge is your float drop and level gauge which is included in the rebuild kit. Like Fishermark said get a gallon of cleaner at the auto parts store. Not hard to do. Look at the carb and see if there is any epoxy paint buildup in the screwheads on the airhorn. That is the biggest pain of it all. Pay attention to the accelerator bore when the airhorn is removed for the presence of a check ball. Again, not to difficult to do. (Or you can get a six pack and bring it down here to Aiken. It's a six pack job):)

Ayuh,... Go to the Edlebrock website, 'n find their manual for the performer carb,...

It's very informative, 'n they're identical carbs...

'n the Edlebrock parts are cheaper, 'n more plentiful than from Merc...

Hi Guys:

Don't forget the six-pack, eh?

Specialized tools like screwdrivers, pliers and wrenches. Like the guys said take it carefully and you'll be fine.
