I was running my 1100 Yamaha Waveraider in "salt water" today and the starter quit on me... Is there any way to flush the engine without starting it? I may not be able to afford a new starter for some time and don't want to leave salt water in the engine.

Hook up the flush adapter use low pressure and before you hook up the water hose add a few drops of dishwashing detergent to the flush hose. Use very low pressure you are just looking for flow , Flush until water is clear and not soapy then you are set :)

I wouldn't chance it.... if you fill up your exhaust the water will then fill your cylinders. Without a starter and water in your cylinders you'll be really screwed. I'd rather my ski sit with salt water in it once than have water in the cylinders.

DoGood is right, even low pressure will flood the engine. You will see flow alright but after the engine is full, if one of the pistons is bdc.
