Can cracked ignition coils make thespark weak?

Seem like my coils leak when you crank it wiht no spark plugs connected...also plastic is cracked,can this make my engine fire weak?

73 johnson 65hp...3 coils ...all of them are cracked spark looks white and weak

Replace them. There are many sources for them. iboats parts finder, dealer, NAPA.

I have two ignition coils cracked on the outer case (1974 115HP Johnson). They worked great until the engine became submerged. I found a set of 4 coils on Ebay for $66 including shipping.

It's really hard on the electrics not to have a ground for the high voltage to go to. It'll make the coils leak and damage the powerpacks.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty

Now my engine will start and run ..but wont planeout and seems to be generaly sluggisg..could these coils be the problem for that,is white spark vs blue spark worse are better?carbs are cleaned...im still thinking its the weak spark

Have you replaced the coils yet? or are you still useing the cracked ones.

still using the old ones just checking if an engine can run on cracked coils,becuase it will run just not at full speed.

The reason it will not run at full speeds is because the coils are breaking down and at least one is loosing spark as you speed up. They have to work harder then. You have been given the proper advice. Replace those coils.
