I have a 2003 Stingray with a MERC 4.3 Carb 190A (SER M616646 with a blown motor (scratches on 2 cylinder walls). I'm looking to save some $$ (maybe $800) and buy a refurb truck block from AutoZone that works in an S-10 Blazer. Seems to me if I take the marine parts (intake/exhaust manifolds, covers, water pump, starter, access) it should work out fine. My only question is the cam and bolt hole patterns.
Does a stock GM 4.3L/262 CAM run the same as a boat enigine?

No! Have you ever skied behind an S-10? Blown to what degree? If you can salvage the cam & LIFTERS, I would. Make sure the push rods are the same length also.

Thanks. I ended up keeping the same engine I got. When I was doing engine searches though, it sounds to me that the boat and car engines are produced on the same line at GM. Makes me think if I had to replace, I probably could start with same block.

The cams are the same. You just have to make sure that the core plugs are brass. Check out Rapidos. You can get a marine reman engine shipped to your door cheaper than auto zone...
