I have a 1962 Evenrude 3HP Lightwin(My dad bought it when I was four!)I am repairing. The tuneup kit has a pair of cam oiler wicks. they weren't present on the motor but are shown in the manual but not in enough detail to be sure. the wicks are just a piece of felt like material,do they mount in a bracket or something. if anyone has a photo or better pic it would be very helpful.
thanks
sirlespat

Re: cam oiler wick where?

Under one of the coils should be a small metal removable bracket that the wick clamps into. The bracket is odd shaped and it installs on the related odd shaped post that the coil is attached to. This odd shape prevents it from swiveling.

It would be under the screw that is closest to the crankshaft, usually a philips screw. The wick is installed so that it faces away from the coil, not back towards the center of it. This allows the cam to glide against the wick as it turns.
