I have used this on my last 2 trips and it works really well.

Fishing for cats along weed beds so the fish usually get wrapped up in the weeds and you have to jerk them out, brought in 15 fish 4-15lbs and no break offs yet, I am pretty impressed with it.

I am using 20lb line with a 3oz weight and am getting pretty decent casts with it and I have yet to have a backlash on my spinning real which is pretty uncommon with new line.

Plus if the science is right it is invisible if it is more than 3' underwater, I guess water filters some colors faster than others and red is the first to go and it makes it way easier to tie up with red line as opposed to clear mono

So if you have been thinking about switching line this is worth the money and all the fish will see is your bait which has to help.

Re: Cajon Fishing line

I've been using spider wire braided fishing line for a short time now. I bought some 30 lb test for my big rod and reel yesterday. I went fishing at a local dam today, which they were running the turbines, I hung on to something big 4 times with a big rod and reel and the line held the first 2 times (fish or whatever it was got off though) but broke the other 2 times. Don't know if I had a fish on the line or was dragging something or what, but I had to really crank it in.

I also use 20 lb spider wire on my Abu Garcias both my small one and my bigger one.

I wanna say that my brother used that red cajun line, I'm not for sure, and I'm also don't recall what test it is. He wasn't very happy with it, it snapped on him several times.

Red does not disappear under water. It changes color:eek:. I used 30 & 40 pound cajun red on umbrella rigs trolling for line sides and never got a strike. Switched over to 30 pound big game line and the bite was on.

Doug Stange of IN-Fisherman, done some extensive testing of the underwater vis of these lines. They claim the red in "moderately clear" water was still the MOST visable at the 20ft depth.
They had no answer as to where this myth started, but confirmed it "is" a myth.

Re: Cajon Fishing line

I bought some 4lb red cajon earlier this year. I have it on spinning rig and actually landed an 8lb walleye on it, so it doesn't repel all fish:D Interesting About the color ... i was always confused by that. On one hand, you have the line people telling you red disappears. On the other you have the hook makers telling you to buy red hooks because it looks like blood or something. Haha, I guess I'll probably just use the Trilene XL clear 4lb again:)

Good point, Don, problem is, hooks are solid, the lines on the other-hand are translucent with the thought that refraction would make the red disappear...Red is "supposed" to be the first color of the spectrum to "vanish in CLEAR water"

Have never fished with Cajun Red, but everyone at the pier this morning was using it while fishing for steelhead. So it must work for someone. I use Trilene Xl or Xt when I bass fish.

Red will not vanish in water. It will change color. Fluorocarbon line is the only line that is nearly invisible to the fish. I use Segaur and Trilene XL line For bass fishing.
