cables: 33c vs. "old style"

Looking for new cables for a '66 Evinrude 18 and a '76 Evinrude 6. I saw your post about 33C cables. I looked around and saw another option for "old style" cables also made by teleflex. The price difference is around $12 each so it's about $50 difference for 4 (13 feet). Can you tell me what the quality difference is? Thanks, Jeff

33C cables have threaded ends and are not compatible with the standard controls for the motors you mentioned.

Conversion kits are available, and might be a solution: http://www.iboats.com/Cable-Conn-Ki...gle_Awolgy-_-MallNewShopping:Google-_-NA-_-NA The easier way is to buy cables to fit J&E, as suggested, and probably cheaper overall. There are pre-'79 versions, post-'79 versions, and I believe three grades of Teleflex cables(!)
