Why arent you happy with the Evinrude oil? Personally I run Quicksilver in my Evinrude, and it has done well with me. I know that I didnt really answer your question, but would like to know why youre not happy with current oil.

Well Im probably gonna get my head bit off for this, but have you tried synthetic? It will get rid of both problems, especially while trolling.

I've run nothing but Cabelas semi-synthetic in my 95 Evinrude and have had zero problems.

Re: cabelas oil

Never used Cabela's, but I usually use either West Marine brand or the Supertech from Wal-Mart and have no problem with either. My 200's smoke bad on any oil, including synthetic, but I've never had any trouble wth plugs fouling, I troll a lot and have never had plugs foul on any oil. You may want to try opening your gap up a little on your plugs if you troll a lot, to about .040, I 've heard it works better and that's what I usually do.

My motor seems to smoke more with Pennzoil synthetic, than with Walmart's Supertech. Go figure that one out.

Re: cabelas oil

Sounds like a motor issue and not related to the oil.<br />Check thermostats and correct heat range of plug.

Nate, to be fair, you should say "could" get rid of the smoking and fouling not "will". I for one (and there are others) have seen absolutely no difference running synthetic in spite of conventional wisdom to the contrary. No difference in smoking, certainly no difference in fouling (mainly because I never have fouling problems with my engine) Not trying to pick a fight, just pointing out to OP that it is not a fact, but rather a possibility. On the other hand, I do believe it's worth giving synth. a try for a gallon (of oil).
