C hook slipper spring mounting hardware

At the end of the season last year I was backing may boat/trailer into my garage at the end of the boating day as I always do. I noticed that the boat seemed to be sitting tilted on the trailer. I got out find that one of the leafs was broken in half. This is a single axle EZ loader roller trailer with a square 2" drop square axle 5 lug hubs. The ramp that I had just used was kind of crummy and the water level in the river was quite low so I had to basically get the truck and trailer way out into the water to retrieve my boat. The trailer was not on the ramp anymore and had to travel over a rocky area so Im thinking this is where things went south?

Anyway I am putting new springs on the trailer. I have c hook slipper style springs or Ive seen them called reverse slipper springs.

They look like this
CHOOK%20SPRING%2026%205%20LF.jpg
26" long and 1 3/4" wide with 4 leafs.

My question is what kind of hardware is used to mount these? Specifically the bolt that goes on the open c hook end? The bolts that I took out seem to be 9/16" bolts 3 1/2" long. Since the c hook slipper end of the spring rides on the bolt and is kind of constantly rubbing I want to make sure I am using the correct bolt. The ones I took out had flat spots on them but they was still plenty off meat left. I cant get a straight answer out of any of my usual vendors. Its like they have no idea what I'm talking about.

I basically have the same setup as this guy from this thread. I post his picture below. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/gene...lers-and-towing/10061448-trailer-leaf-springs

Any idea would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Use good quality bolts of the same size and threaded length. Nothing really special about them.

The bolts do wear, especially the slipper end with being exposed to road grit and the spring end sliding on the bolt.

If your bolt has a flat on it, I'm guessing you lost the bushings long ago.

You should have hard plastic bushings on both ends of the spring. A bushing presses in from either side in the front eyes. The rear bushing is a spacer that supports the open end

Sometimes they have the plastic bushing and some do not. Mine has C slippers and has a metal bushing on the C end

Interesting.... I've seen bronze but not steel.
You get any noise / squeaking out of them?

Of course!

After I commented on the thread, I took my flashlight out to the boat and looked at them. I think I am going to replace them!
