Thanks for all your help in my post "changing leaf springs."<br />Another question. My springs are the c-hook style. It seems to me the open end or the "c" should attach at the coupler. (dual axle) Is this correct? The old springs were attached with the "c" end facing the rear of the trailer. Which way is correct and why?

Re: C-Hook Leaf Springs

Well, I don't know if this is relevent or not, but here goes. My trailer is tandem axle and uses C-hook springs. On both axles the C-hook is to the rear. On the forward axle the C-hook passes through the pin on the equilizer (some folks call this the rocker) and on the rear axle the C-Hook goes through a bolt (with a bushing) that passes though a bracket that is fixed to the trailer frame. Both axles have brakes but when I bought the trailer only the forward axle had brakes, if that makes any difference at all. As for the reason, it could be because robins have a red breast, it could be because the sky is blue. It could be for some other reason that is absolutly beyond my as well.<br /><br />Thom

Sent an email to Champion Trailers. The response was that on all c-hook installations the closed eye goes towards the front of the trailer.
