I just got a boat but i can not seem to get the trolling motor to work. I have checked the power going to the foot pedal and it is recieving power. I want to by pass the pedal so i can see if the trolling motor works and to see if it is the foot pedal. Any help would be great thank you.

Re: bypass foot pedal

Remove the cover at the top of the shaft. disconnect the ground and high speed wires (you'll need to determine which ones those are but probably red and black or red and white) and power them directly from the battery. But if you have power into the pedal but not out of it, then the problem is in the pedal.

Re: bypass foot pedal

Ok thanks I did that and the motor started right up, and i tested the power comming out of the pedal and it was just fine. So i have power going to the pedal and out the pedal to the top of the motor. But it did work when i powerd it direct to the motor wires. Im not really talented at these things so if i can get more help on what you guys might think the problam is that would be outstanding. Thanks For your help.
