have 1989 Mercury xr2 150. When switch is switched on buzzer does mormal, couple short beeps. When boat planes out and you reach say 45-50 miles per hour start getting short beeps several times toward fishing hole. Stop and fish take off to new location and run the dog out of it no beeping, water pump shooting out a stream of water 4 feet behind motor. Stop and fish and take off again a steady beep none stop water still shooting 4 feet out behind motor. What is wrong and what to check. Oil reservoir on motor full and main oil tank is about 3/4 full. Sitting still motor is smoking like it is on fire. Know it is getting oil. Any ideas would be appreciated. 1989 motor has less than 400 hours on it. yes that is right. Water pressure is about 17 pounds.

Re: buzzer sound

Try your thermostats in a saucepan to check they are opening and check the passage around it is not clogged.
A stream of water indicates pump is working it dosent indicate if the thermostats are opening or if there is a blockage up stream in the cylinder head

Re: buzzer sound

Constant beeeeep is overheat alarm.Beep beep beep is oil warning alarm.9 out of 10 times its the sensors playing up,... BUT until your sure i would not run it.Check test procedure in your manual. Many things can cause false alarm.
We have the same block and i had the same problem.Found i was dropping 2 and 3 cylinders now and then and #4 cylinder has the sensor attached at switch box....when cyl dropped out alarm would sound.Turned out i needed new trigger and 2 new switch box's.
