Buzzard's Bay - Cape Cod

For some strange reason, I've never been in Buzzard's bay. In the old days, we would cruise up Vineyard Sound on our yacht to Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven. Those days are over and now we are getting a small 22 foot bowrider. My question is how choppy does it get on the average day in Buzzard's Bay? We're thinking of putting in around Wareham and cruising around the bay, maybe going to Bassetts Island or maybe even putting in at Westport and treking over to Cuttyhunk Island. My concern is that we've never been on Buzzards and I'm wondering what I should expect for weather, chop, etc. Thanks.

Re: Buzzard's Bay - Cape Cod

Westport is my absolute favorite place to cruise and fish. Cutty is only about 5 miles then Gay Head only another 5. I have an 18ft BW and have never had and problems, but of course you must choose your day and be watchful. Heading to Cutty from westport its always a beam sea so you'll never be heading into it. The water is incredible clean and not a lot of activity. Bring everything you'll need cuz there isn't anything at or near the ramp. The little village of Westport is 15 to half hour away.
