I am new to the forums and just now getting back into boating again. I grew up and lived most of my life down on the Gulf coast, near Houston, TX. Five years ago, I moved to Austin and had no interested in fishing lakes as I was spoiled with offshore fishing.

Well, the bug and itch has gotten the best of me, so I decided to buy a boat and am picking it up on Friday. I looked it over good, checked the hull, no soft spots in the floor, transom is solid, no hairline cracks. Motor runs like a top, compression is good.

I ended up buying this boat though so on the rare chance I can get the time and the weather works in my favor, I can slip down to the coast and go out a few miles to the first set of rigs at least and maybe catch some Kingfish or snapper.

I haven't found much info. on this boat, but it appears to be a pretty solid rig. Anyone have any experience with this boat or motor?

Any input welcome.

Thanks,

Cory

I am not familiar with the brand but that looks like a very well maintained and well powered CC boat. Nice buy. Welcome to the forums and good luck with your new-to-you boat.

good rig. lots of power.
choose your days, though, and add a VHF with a good antenna. I mounted mine on the rail over the windshield so I can fold it down across the front of it.
That's a very good general family use boat, too, and will be easy to trailer and launch.

Don't be surprised if you hear a loud sucking noise coming from the back of the boat. :D:D

Ocean Pros are good motors, but notorious for sucking down the fuel.

LOL thanks for the laugh, I needed that. Oh wait, no I didn't haha. Yeah, I have had an inkling of suspicion when I was looking on it and made the offer that it will driink the fuel, but the deal was too hard to pass up. Everything, I mean everything works on this boat, wash down system and all.

Thanks for the reply, I just bought a new radio and antenna for the boat and will be installing it this weekend. Weather and seas permitting, I will be taking it down to Freeport for Father's Day and taking my Dad offshore a few miles, the King fish are in close right now anyway. We haven't been offshore together in a number of years and it is about time.

Nice boat, and a ski pylon on the back which you don't find on most CC's... enjoy her.

the good thing about buying a rig with a solid hull like that so cheap, is that if the motor dies (or is too thirsty) it's still economically feasible to repower. Around here, people repower old reliable hulls all the time. The key is to start with a good one.

Well, I discovered that this boat was made by Four Winns up to about 1993, then sold to Stratos. I did manage to find a manual on the boat at their website, so that is always nice.

Would love to find someone that has had one of these boats and get their opinion on how it handles offshore in 1's & 2's.
