Hi we are new to boating, recently moved to a large lake (>10 miles) and are looking for a good water skiing, tubing boat. We saw a 2006 Larson Senza 206 I/O with a Volvo Penta, 5.0 GL and 220 Horsepower (20 footer.) Asking price is 16,999$ and they are not willing to budge on price. It has about 150 Hours and mechanic says its in great condition.

So questions: Is this a first good family boat for watersports (see above) and How's the price?

Thanks

Whose "mechanic" says its in great condition - yours or the sellers? If he is the seller's - take what he has to say with a grain of salt! Have no experience with Larson so can't comment on the boat or the price but can say that the engine (subject to condition and maintenance) should be fine for your intended use IMO. Good luck.

Thanks Brian, It's the sellers mechanic. Yah, maybe I should be more wary?

That's an "average retail price"

Now do the math and be realistic......... a 5+ year old boat with 150 hours ????? So only 30 hours per year use???? That seems too low.......

For the price I would say it would have to be in perfect condition with all services done and records to back them up.

That is a good boat and motor combo. They have a decent reputation ;)

Thanks, no service records, nothing to back up the hours.

Hours/hourmeters on boats are strictly an honor system item anyway. Use your judgement based on it's condition, and see if the hours make sense. 30 Hours a year sounds realistic to me for lots of folks.

I bought an 04 larson 230 Lxi in the fall with 52 hours. Was skeptical at first, but boat was in 'New' condition. Ended up tracking tracking down original owner and got full story on the boat, and hours were confirmed to be true.

I only had this Larson on the water once, then I had to winterize it. So I can't really comment on how it runs out. I think Larson is a middle of the road boat quality wise though. Price sounds reasonable, but there are quite a few really nice boats out there for that price, and it is a buyers market right now.
