Hi, new here and already posted a question about the motor on the above boat. This rig is priced cheap. Been lightly used and properly stored and looks it. My question is about the deck, seats, and transom. The deck is solid, couldn't find any soft spots. The seats' upholstery is original and serviceable but one seat is loose and you can pick it up! Good thing in this case, cause I looked underneath and could find no rot. I have two questions about this boat. First, any recommended methods in particular about reattaching the seat? Also, even though lightly used and properly stored, is it possible for a 30-year old boat to still have a solid deck and transom with no rot to worry about? All your rotten plywood stories have scared me a bit!

Re: Buying a 1973 17' Silverline

I have a 1973 Silverline Aruba 15' and it has no deck or transom rot. There is no checking of the glass anywhere. It is a very solid and well made boat. I have a 65 hp Evinrude and it pushes the boat to 31 mph. Crabbait suggested that I epoxy my seat box to the deck and that is what I did...no screws and probably will never come loose again!<br />Enjoy,
