Although... If you rebuild the bottom end you know you can rely on it. The $1500 repair probably doesn't allow for the rest of the engine systems like electrics carbs water pump etc that probably need some attention as well to keep the thing in good condition.<br />It is a bit different where I come from as it is very hard to find a good second hand engine and if you do, you can easily pay $4-5000 for a late 80's early 90's 60-90hp saltwater motor.
