I probably will chose one of the following boats-which would you recommend. Both have good compression. Assume similar mechanical conditions and comments:<br /><br />1984 4winns, 120hp mercruiser I/O with freshwater cooling, Alpha outdrive?, 16', looks nice. $2700.<br />-OD transom leak repaired 2 years ago<br /><br />1987 Baretta, 165hp 470 mercruiser w alpha 1 outdrive, 17', looks pretty nice. $2200 (owner discouraged). Also has trolling moter, fish finder. <br />-plug electrodes looked white but engine temp ok<br />-reverse dies at anything more than idle (needs simple adjustment?)<br /><br />I probably shouldn't let it affect my decision, but I like the fact that the 4winns has a much lighter load on the trailer tongue to make it easier on the car. And it seems like the simpler engine will be less maintenance. It looks a little nicer also.<br /><br />You guys probably are salivating at the prices!
