The admirals lap top was getting a little long in the tooth so for Christmas I was going to get a newer one. Got to really looking at how she uses it and it's all web related, check some email and watching a some movies when she is away from home. (She has a desktop for real work.)

Hmmm, maybe a tablet? Yeah, I went for it and got one of the new Kindle Fire HDX tablets and it came in FedEx a couple days ago while she was out and about. Got it out of the shipping box and it said before use the batteries should be fully charged. Being the wonderful guy I am I don't want her to have to wait while it charges on Christmas right? I mean what sort of husband would I be if I didn't have it prepped and ready to go? :D

Hmm, all charged, better make certain it actually works right? Don't want her to be disappointed with a DOA present. Again, only trying to be a good husband...

Ummm, I drained the battery and it's back on the charger. Gonna have to clean all those finger smudge's too...

Thats great.. the only gift i got early this year was a box of old matchbox orange tracks for my nieces and nephews. So to make sure they still worked as they were made in the late 60's me and my girl took it upon ourself to safety test the loop de loops and car charger and all the fun doodads i had as a kid.

We spent a good part of last saturday making tracks down the stairs and jumps etc.. im tempted to keep them but i already asked my brother if his kids had any cars.. he almost came over to play.. ;)

The wife and I stopped getting each other presents many years ago. She buys what she wants, socks, shoes, make up, nick knacks and all kinds of that kind of stuff. I say nothing except an occasional where is that going due to we are running out of room to put stuff. Her comment is well if you take that thing of yours and put it somewhere else I would have room, all smiles. No complaints here, she was the one to decide I needed a bigger truck to haul around the bigger boat she wanted me to get. I also get to buy a backhoe, dump truck and other earth moving equipment.

I think I'll keep her :D

I remember those...we had a ton as kids! The most vivid memory was mom using them as belts for punishing a.k.a. giving us a good swat across the backside...ouch! Man could she get some speed with those!

The truck .... or the boat? :D;)

Both, Still like the boat. The truck was bought with the boat in 2000. In 2008 when the auto industry was going down the tubes she said I need to get another truck cause of such a good deal (13500 off the sticker). It's been almost 6 years and who knows she might decide I need another in a year or two.

With 30000 pound toe capacity for the 2014's, who knows, she may want a bigger or another boat. That truck could pull an older 370SS with twin V10 and Lamar drives or at least 525's :high5:

I got the Admiral an MS Surface (with keyboard) for similar reasons. The netbook she has now is showing signs of needing a complete refresh after about 2 years. I'm hoping the MS Surface will have better longevity. :)

I'm not going to open it and charge the batteries. Probably will spend Christmas day figuring it out anyway, so it can charge then. :noidea:

I got my wife a machete, ax, and another machete. It's what she wanted so if I don't come back after Christmas she has chopped up the evidence. Also got he a gift cart to brown crawdad, and some other stuff she ask for.

the Admiral has an iPad, so I got her jewelry.

I also agree, clear the cache files. you may want it to power on to a picture of you and the mrs on the water or something.

You guys made me laugh. Also reminded me of when I was a kid.

My father, who had grown up through the depression of the 1920's, bought me a Lionel electric train for Christmas when I was about seven years old (in the 1940's). My mother told me that after he set it up on Christmas eve (with me sound asleep), he played with it for hours before he too went to bed. God, how I wish I could have seen him doing that!

Dodge gets the equipment to dig the holes, fishing dude's wife gets the machete, I see bad things here.
