hi there, newbie here. i have a 2003 Crownline deckboat with a 5.0 GL-B and a Duoprop drive. i need to replace the engine due to a cracked block and am thinking of going with a 5.7. everything i can find says that it should swap out with not problems. my questions are, will it swap and do i need to change any accessories (carb, exhaust, etc)? i am not looking for all out horsepower just a few more reliable horses. any comments will be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Re: busadave

Have a hard look at the manifolds, if the block cracked due to freezing there's a good possibility the exhaust manifolds could be bad. Look at the intake and exhaust port sizes carefully also vs. the 5.7 heads. Take some measurements of all before investing in a new short block. May need more carb. Everything else is pretty much a swap.

Re: busadave

Should be an easy swap. Everything from the 5.0 should bolt up and work on your 5.7 long block.

took the boat to the shop. gonna put a 350 w/ 4bb in it. service man said i need to watch it with the 350 on over-revving the motor with the current props. it has a 1.95 ratio duoprop. he said i may need new props. does this sound right???

Re: busadave

manual breaks down how to run the boat for the first 20 as break in. is that still the 'norm'?
