I have a newer trailer for my 17 ft i/o. Purchased it from E-Bay (very hard to find used trailers) Its a Shorelander. Its a very adjustable trailer. The problem is in order to get proper tongue weight my transom is 7 inches inside my rear bunk support. I've searched alot of threads and only see were the transom is hanging over the back end. Mine is the opposite were I'm inside the crossmember. If this seems like a problem I'm assuming I'll cut crossmember and reweld 7 inches forward. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Re: bunk support

Loosen up the spring mounts and slide the axle back 6 inches.

I know I said the trailer was adjustable but the spring mounts are welded

Re: bunk support

Notice the front(bow support)of the trailer, where the winch is mounted. That part of the trailer should be adjustable(if not welded).Loosen the U-bolts at the bottom where it clamps onto the trailer frame.Put boat in desired position on the trailer and slide the (bow)support back against the boat.Re-tighten U-bolts.

Tylerin,

Your trailer is somewhat ill fit.

You have a couple of choices.

1. You can adjust tongue weight by sliding the axle forward or backward.

2. Once that is done, you may want to shorten the tongue.

The back cross beam should be within a couple inches, either way, of the transom.

I'm sure you can get there with a combination of 1 & 2 that will work.

Re: bunk support

Thanks reel appeal, unfortunately when I move the boat back to desired location on trailer I had very little tongue weight. I just removed crossmember and positioned it forward. A welder friend of mine is coming by tomorrow to weld her up

Thank you to djohns I was typing while you were posting. My leaf brackets are welded, no adjustment. Brought crossmember up 6.5 inches and have desired tongue weight

Tylerin,

Welded-hmmmm!

Every ShoreLand'r I ever saw had the spring brackets welded to a moveable undercarriage that could be slid.

Oh well, seems like you got it.
