I have a bumble bee bass boat with a mercury 70 horse power motor on it, the steering is very tight and i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to either loosen it up some or where to buy a new cable and how to change it out. The cable that is on the boat is 2 to 3 years old we bought it new and had it installed by a boat repair person, it was hard to steer from the start. any hrlp greatly appreciated.

Disconnect the cable from the motor,... then see if it's the Cable, or the Swivel tube on the motor...........

At 3 years it Shouldn't be the cable.......

Agree with Bondo. Probably the motor swivels after just a couple of years. Find the greasing points and force the stuff in.

Other possibility is the steering rod at the motor end of the cable. Sometimes this gets clagged up, and needs the cable pulled free and the tube cleaned out.

Either way, disconnect the cable at the motor end (one nut only) and you'll soon see which it is.
