Hi,

Depending on the size of your boat, they make pretty good size live well kits for big coolers. No holes to drill.
Not sure if this helps.

Most have an inlet on the transom near the very bottom of the boat. If you really want fresh water into the boat you will need to drill a hole unless you want to put a hose overboard every time you want fresh water.

All depends on where you plan on putting it in your boat, and what you are willing to do in the plumbing dept.

Most livewells will have 2 hoses. One for filling, the other for draining to empty, and also one just above the full water level to avoid over filling ( connects into the drain line. I suppose you could have one single hole out back on the transom and divert the water with a Y pipe and have a couple of one way valves depending on where your pump would be located.

More information would be needed to suggest your alternatives.

Re: building live well!!

Ironhorse, The simplest livewell is a plastic cooler or other box, with a pump that pumps water into the box and a removable overflow pipe that drains over the side. You simply install the overflow pipe and turn on the pump. The well fills and the top water continuously drains overboard. If you have a raw water washdown on the boat (or install one), adding the livewell is real simple. Simply connect a hose to the washdown, and run it into the cooler. Now install a thru hull fitting in the cooler and run that hose into the outboard splashwell or a scupper.
