i have a trailer for an 16' boat, i'm not using. want a tandem pwc trailer. has anyone ever added 2 cross member on top of existing trailer, then mounting bunk hardware to the cross members. this the way my Hobie 18 trailer is made. of course adding bow stops.

Re: building double trailer

I build and modify trailers all the time, a couple of weeks ago I built a stainless steel jet ski trailer just for the heck of it, cost wise and labor wise, you would probably be better off selling the trailer you have and buying a double ski trailer they usually sell for 4 or 5 hundred dollars used, I know where there are a bunch for sale locally,,parts@jetkingparts.com this is the time of year to pick one up. http://www.pwcweekly.com/forum/index.php/topic,693.0.html

Re: building double trailer

I took a single jet ski trailer, and made it into a double for my stand ups.

I just added on to the fram that was already there, and used the old frame as support. I also cut the axle in half and then add a new section to make up for the new with difference.

As for the price I think I paid maybe 50 dollars for the steel at a local scrap yard, Just just some C-Channel and some pipe. Welded it all my self. I even added a stoarge box along with a spot for gas cans. All just stuff I had laying around.

If you want i can email you pics of it, or you could just PM me here on the fourm and I can discuss more.
