 Earliest outing in 10 years, and we were thwarted by bugs. Serious bugs, a bit larger than a Nat, but more disruptive than flies or mosquitoes. They were slow, and easy to kill, leaving an ugly streak on the vinyl that thankfully washed off easily. These little POS’s didn’t bite, but were in swarms all over the lake. We spent less than 45 minutes on the water when we decided to abort. The temp was in the high 60’s, very little wind, and the lake (Lake George northeastern Indiana, crossing into south central Michigan) was nearly void of boats. Anybody know what these bugs are, or how long do they stay in the area?

Re: Bugged Out

Evidently long enough to run people off the lake. Did they bite or did you just get tired of breathing them? Don't know what they are but sorry a fishing trip was ruined. I'm going to try my first trip this weekend.

Re: Bugged Out

Don't have that problem in So. Ind. Just high water on the Ohio and cold water in the stripper pits. Going to Racoon Lake around Rockville middle of May. White and striper fishing. You're pretty close. Come on down and join us. Staying at a buddy's cabin. Assuming you are around the South Bend area. Niece and her husband are there. He and his father have an enviromental management company there and he is a HUGE fisherman.

Re: Bugged Out

Hey NYMINUTE, I live down in Southern Indiana but know the lakes you are talking about....my grandpa lived between Angola and Freemont and I have spent a good bit of time up there. By the way, are you a waterfowler? Your chocolate lab picture looks like one I see on the RefugeForum for duck hunters. If you are on the RefugeForum what name do you use? Hope those bugs stop bothering you!
