BRP to spend $15 million to expand Evinrude plant

Recreational product manufacturer BRP will concentrate its Evinrude outboard motor work in Sturtevant and invest more than $15 million in its plant there, the company said Thursday.

With the decision, the firm will shift all of its Waukegan, Ill., employees to Sturtevant. No jobs will be cut, the Quebec-based company said. Relocations will begin in late spring and run through the end of the year.

Besides Evinrude motors, BRP makes Ski-Doo snowmobiles, SeaDoo watercraft and boats and Johnson outboard engines.

Bombardier recreational products broke away from bombardier, the mother company awhile back.
At that time they made everything from the dash series of planes to lite rail products as well as the recreation side of the house, the one product that I do appreciate that BRP kept was the rotax line of engines, They are used in everything from ski doos to sea doos, motorcycle/quads and even light aircraft.
Good motors

We can use any new jobs here, construction for the upgrade, new employees. We need it here. Racine has 19% unemployment.

The E-tec is a great product. Glad to see it expand. It certainly was not well represented at the boat show I recently attended.
