Re: Bronze props ?
My Nickname over at The Chrysler Crew and ebay is not "Bronzeman" for no reason. I would rather have a bronze prop than any other!
For larger boats with inboard drive engines bronze props are still made and used.
Bronze is, let's say, Passe' for outboards and I/O drives and is no longer made. In these smaller sizes, stainless can easily be cast and machined. Since it is stronger, it has usurped the position that bronze used to have.
Bronze is almost as strong as stainless and more easily repairable. Indeed, before stainless technology, bronze was the material for racing props.
But for me the factor is "BLING". Polish a bronze prop with jewelers rouge then white polish on a cloth wheel and you have something that everyone at the ramp is going to remark about. I have one or two that I bought specifically to hang on the wall. (yeah, I know! NERD--get a life) 'Smatter of fact, I have a photo of one in the album Frank's boats over at The Chrysler Crew.
If the prop is in good condition, for 125 you are not getting hurt I would say get it.
