the Trailering bracket was stolen off of my 75hp Chrysler outboard. so now i am trying to find a new one with no luck. sombody told me to put a 2x4 between the motor and the tramsom bracket and strap the motor down to the trailer to prevent it from moving. has anyone tried this? is it safe enough for a 60-70 mile round trip? also, please note i do not have power tilt/trim, it is manual. i was going to use a "Transom Saver" but it says right on it not to use without power tilt, so i havent tried that yet. thanks

Re: Broken Trailering/Travel Bracket

Try having one made at a local machine shop. Since it's not submerged, it can be made from mild steel. And since it's a simple bracket, I'm sure it wouldn't cost very much.

Yes, I trailered my 125 with a 2x4, when the tilt/ trim was broken. Just bungeed it to the motor leg at the transom bracket. Held the skeg&prop up off the ground but didn't do anything to save the transom. I recommend saving the transom.
