Re: broken something
It doesn't spin itself. The part that's broken is just a protrusion from the outer housing of the top crank bearing. On my left picture, you can see the rollers in it which roll directly on the crankshaft. So I guess you could say that the crankshaft spins inside it, but that's all.

To dissassemble the engine, you'll have to first remove it from the rest of the outboard - pop the starter and generator bracket off first, as well as the throttle arm. Then pull the carb off, the manifold, and the reed plate. An impact screwdriver (<$20 from discount tool suppliers) is really helpful here. Then you drive out the two tapered alignment pin from the thin side, remove the crankcase bolts, and the main crankcase bolts. You'll need a 5/16" allen socket for the centre main bolts. You could use an allen key, but you'll need to torque these bolts later with a torque wrench.

Then you can split the case and pull off the main bearing with your fingers. You'll want a new top main seal to go with your replacement bearing. There's no need to remove the head, pistons, connecting rods, etc.

I don't think you could possibly have broken it pulling the flywheel, unless you somehow really crunched the armature plate. That's some seriously tough steel that's broken there. For the future, it's best to rap on the center bolt of the puller rather than the flywheel itself - it works much better. and doesn't hurt the flywheel.
