So I kinda sorta pushed my boat into the garage wall and it broke the tip off a blade, its about 1/2" x 1 1/2" piece that broke off, I intend to replace the prop but I need to fish this weekend. Is it safe to run the prop like this, its got a slight bend backwards near the broken edge that I can straighten. I dont seem to have alot of options locally for a 13x19 Yamaha prop.

Re: Broken prop tip

Safe? Sure. Good for engine? Not really. It'll shake/rattle & roll! Vibration/imbalance is never real good for the driveline or the rest of the boat. But the boat will move forward at decent speed and it will get you where you need to go. Keep your speed and distance running to a minimum and it probably won't hurt anything in the short term.

FYI you don't really need to replace...a prop shop can fix this easily. But it might be wise to get a 2nd prop so you have a spare, and therefore you'll never find yourself in this quandry again...

I'd run it for one trip. Watch your engine first time you run it up. If it's going to do much you will see the engine vibrate. Agree prop shop can fix you right up on that. However, back when I ran alum props on my 125 and a dinged prop was an ever outing occurrence, when I got the prop back, on the next outing the paint wore off and it looked horrible.

Re: Broken prop tip

Thanks for the replies, I actually found a place semi locally that had these 13x19 yamaha props in stock and they were priced right. I picked one up and will get the damaged one repaired. The break didn't look that bad but I don't want to destroy my motor.

Smart move, get that dinged one repaired and then you have a back up.
