Broken Nipple stuck In Fuel Line

Couldn't find a proper topic for this but hope this is OK. Today I tried to replace the in line fuel filter on my Yamaha F100 4 stroke. It's the barrel shaped white plastic one that has the fuel line in and out. In the process of trying to remove the old filter I broke off both nipples where the fuel line connects. Now I am faced with trying to remove the broken off nipples without damaging the fuel line and without getting pieces going into the fuel pump. There is not enough to grab with a pliers. Can anyone please help with some kind of magical trick to get the darned things out. PS: there is not enough play to cut them out .

take a few small screws and find one that will thread into it and when it threads in nice and deep put a pliers on the screw head and pull it out.You may even want to heat the fuel line with a blow dryer to soften the line for easy release.Charlie

Thanks Charlie: I tried the screw thing but when I screwed it in it just expanded the line and made it stick tighter. However, a heat gun is a great idea. I will give it a try and let you know. John

Squeeze the line to break the plastic pieces, or replace the lines. Fuel line is cheap

Use a sharp knife and trim the hose back until you can grab the nipple with a pair of pliers.

If that does doesn't work, cut the hose behind the nipple. worst case is the hose ends up too short to connect to the new filter, so replace the hose.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I finally got the lines cleared. I was able to get a small screwdriver between the hose and the plastic and sort of freed some space. Then I shoved a needle nose pliers and got a good grip on the plastic. Twisted, turned and pulled until they came out.
