So I have a 74' 75' Mercury 850 thats connected to a boat that i have just put a lot of time into. After fixing up the boat, I was so glad to find the motor that I was told hadn't ran in ten years fired right up. and of coarse the first time i get it out on the water the motor falls off the boat. I was able to keep the motor because the shock things at the lower connection to the motor held strong but the section at the pivot above the clamp broke. I'm sorry i don't know the technical terms but work with me. It seems to be a rather large piece that im going to be replacing or fixing just don't know what yet. i'm pretty sure it was corrosion that caused the failure, just want to know if anyone thinks it's possible to find parts like these for an older motor or maybe i could just weld it.

my camera went swimming so i had to use my phone but here is a

picture of the damage

you can see the half circle on the left, that should be a full circle wrapped around the hole just to the right in the clamp

this isn't my boat but it's the same motor

Got any pictures of the actual damage ??.
Welding is not a good idea but you should be able to find used parts for it as is shares many parts with the bigger inline 6 engines :)....

Could it be the tilt tube that's broke ?? ( still available from Mercury part #883067 ) , but again any picture would be helpful.
