Suddenly my old Suzuki 7.5 outboard lost connection to the propeller, when I was out testing the engine, so I had to row home. The engine reved up, but the propeller no longer turned. When I came home I checked, and could see that the main axel down to the gearbox with the propeller did not rotate, even though the engine was on, and the gears (forwards and backwards) where engaged. The strange thing is that when I rotate the propeller manually there seems to be nothing wrong with the axel connection to the engine - the pistons move etc.
Can anyone help?
It seems I have found the problem now - the crankshaft is probably was broken/disconnected - so the propeller movement activiated only the lower piston - and the engine running activated only the upper piston - so of to the junkyard with this engine...
