I am in the process of changing my impeller but while doing so I "tapped" a little too hard on the housing and it broke. My question is...how might this affect the motors performance? Should I JB Weld it, have it braised, or just grind away what's left to a smooth edge on the housing?
I'd also like to know if they're is anything else that I should check while I have the lower unit out?
I released the gear oil and it wasn't milky so I believe the seals are fine. It had a VERY SMALL amount of metallic shavings on the screw magnets as well. I did engage the shift rod into drive/reverse and noticed that I could turn the drive shaft nearly 1/4 turn before the prop shaft began to turn...is this normal for a motor of this age? I bought the motor used and was told that the year was between a 1989 & 1991 Johnson 110 HP V4. The model number was one that came on some boat/motor package so the year isn't exactly clear.
Thanks for all input.
