The rope on my Minn Kota Edge broke yesterday and in trying to repair it I found that the latch strap had also broken from the latch bracket. The problem is that both are enclosed in the lower arm and the only way to get to them is to remove one of the hinge pins on either end of the lower arm. The hinge pins seem to be pressed into the mount and I think the only way to remove them is to drive them out with a punch. I'm one of those guys who could screw up an anvil and I don't want to attempt it until I know if this is the correct way to get them out, what tools to use, and what direction to drive the pins (or does it matter?). Any help you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated.
