Well, my EZ-Steer came in the mail, just in time. Went to pick it up this morning at the Post Office. Noticed that the box was a bit damaged, but, oh well, I'm sure that every thing is fine in there. I mean, what could get broken?
Got home, installed the brackets. All went well, every thing is on there the way it should be (with the exception of the hose clamps are a little weak and flimsy. Why not use a better clamp?) Went to put the rod on. Found that it is a little long, but, I should be able to move the kicker over a bit. That may help. The C - C on my motors is 28", the rods they have, for some reason, do not cover that range. They are 23" - 27" and 29" and over.
Anyways, with the rod on, I went to steer the main motor, and the rod fell off. At first I thought I just didn't attach it in the clamp well, but, noticed that the plastic holding the ball joint broke right where they screwed it into the rod.
Any one have any ideas on how I can fix this for the weekend? The closest place to get a part is over an hour away, and I have to be at work in a few hours. And, I really would like this working this weekend.
I thought of using duct tape, but, not sure if that would work.
Thanks for your help.
Brian.
