I just bought an use boat 2002 tracker, the boat has a 60hp mercury 2002 oil injected engine. Unfortunately I did not do a good job checking it out and when I was doing further inspection at home I found the metal case that houses the motor shaft to be broken. I can see a crack on the metal. I do not know if water gets into that section. What would happen if water gets into that section? What if is salt water (i fish on the bay)? This is my first boat so I am not very familiar with how the motor comparments are sealed. Any advise would be greatly appreciated...
